Pay attention to all the students, not just to the one who reads the text in the back of the room. Do they awaken any feelings in you? What do you think they might mean?<br><br>2. Observe the actions of the teacher. In general, how do you feel about his presentation? What feelings do you think his behavior expresses… concern? anger? disapproval? desire to control the students? love of the subject he is teaching? joy in doing his job? forcefulness? Or… perhaps disinterest in his students? Perhaps you see something else. Try to support your opinion by bringing support from his behavior.<br><br>3.  Can your identify 5 forms of body language exhibited by the teacher? Do they awaken feelings for you. What do you think they might mean?<br><br>4. As the teacher speaks, he points to statutes or pictures of the people he mentions. You can see the statues of Socrates and Plato. Do you think the statues are expressing anything through their body language. If yes, then what?<br><br><br>5.  Much of the teacher’s talk is given while he stands in front of a famous painting. It is called “The Death of Socrates.” It was painted by the French artist Jacques-Louis David in 1787. It depicts Socrates and his students moments before he drank the hemlock. Socrates is the one pointing his finger upward. What do you think this gesture means? Why Do you think there is a reason why the creator of this clip put that image right there?<br><br>6.  I will show you a much clearer image of this painting. Can you identify two elements of Socrates’ body language? Contrast Socrates’ body language to those of his students.Identify the contrasting expressions. What do you think they mean?<br><br>7.
