5.  Much of the teacher’s talk is given while he stands in front of a famous painting. It is called “The Death of Socrates.” It was painted by the French artist Jacques-Louis David in 1787. It depicts Socrates and his students moments before he drank the hemlock. Socrates is the one pointing his finger upward. What do you think this gesture means? Why Do you think there is a reason why the creator of this clip put that image right there?

6. I will show you a much clearer image of this painting. Can you identify two elements of Socrates’ body language? Contrast Socrates’ body language to those of his students.Identify the contrasting expressions. What do you think they mean?
