They are easily accessible, and the toys inside hold very little value. I have previously worked around site in Unit 1 and felt like that exploratory pathway has been extensively overworked in my practice. The idea of community is a theme I feel more tentative to approach because I would want to have a connection to the group and a clear motive for exploring that community. Because I don't instinctively have any ideas around this theme, I think anything I choose to focus on is in danger of appropriating pre-existing community models or taking on a voyeuristic perspective.

The idea of collection appealed to me more instinctively - there are many collections I have a personal interest in that I would love to illustratively explore and haven't attempted to previously. Used postcards can be found in fleamarkets, on ebay, charity shops and other bric-a-brac stores. I came across this phenomena a few years ago and have been fascinated with them ever since.

Individually, each postcard allows a small glimpse into the life of the sender and also the receiver, their relationship, and also the contextual climate in which they are living.
