Dear Senator Stabenow,

I am worriful for our oceans, In the future, I plan to dive with marine life. My dear plans will cease to succeed while our oceans' plastic is bombarding and harming marine life. I’m assuming you're also fond of our organic ocean life, we can save our sorrowful marine sea creatures for everyone.

The problem here is all of these life forms are mistaking the plastic for food, it is crowding their insides because of our species, “Consumers throw away millions of single-use plastics, like bags, and straws every day.” All of this pollution takes years to decompose. According to the text, this means it will stay idle in the ocean for a very long time, and until it's gone mountains of plastic will start to build up, cluttering the ocean. A second piece of the text states “When a second animal eats that first critter, the contaminants move into the new animal's body. With each meal, more contaminants enter its tissues. In this way, what had started as trace amounts of a contaminant will become increasingly concentrated as they move up the food chain.” All this evidence concludes that one animal dead, or eaten could lead to affect thousands of organisms dead also. Not only is this harming our marine life, but the ocean and its clean water happen to be in danger too.

Senator Stabenow, the solution to this situation is to recycle and legislate laws that forbid public littering, especially at beaches. I believe this could task could lead to cleaner waters. To help interpret this law we could hire more lifeguards at public beaches, it would also an opening for more jobs. The beach patrol would prevent people from littering in our waters, we can also invest in trash traps or litter bombs as the text states “The best solution is to prevent plastic from reaching our oceans. Trash traps and litter bombs snag garbage before they enter our waterways.” And back to the recycling matter, we could have legislation on what types of plastics the food industry uses. “Law recommends asking restaurants to stop using polystyrene foam containers, these break up quickly and are not recyclable.” This paragraph concludes that we have multiple solutions for this situation. 

Senator, I’m sure you're in love with our oceans as I am, we can stop this problem with your help. If we don’t our marine life and ocean will soonly die off. We can make legislation, hire more workers, or recycle as long as we put effort into the life of our marine ecosystems there can be a future for our oceans and our animals.
