         <description><![CDATA[<div>After reading through the first couple of chapters, my interest in the political aspects of education narrowed in towards standardized assessment. With the upcoming elections and the new ESSA (Every Student Succeeds Act) coming into effect next school year, standardized assessments and their effects on teacher quality evaluation and low-performing schools will be an interesting change from the current No Child Left Behind Act. I found this clip to be interesting as it mentions the framework for the ESSA and the changes that will impact us as teachers, our schools, curriculum and new testing guidelines. The transition of power moving from the federal level to the state level will be powerful to our education system and I would like to learn more about this. I want to investigate further into the changes being made which also support subgroups and provide financial support for the under performing or students in poverty compared to the NCLB.</div>]]></description>
