This book is a about a young a Japanese girl named Sadako who was born towards the end of World War II.  During this war and atomic bomb was dropped which caused people to do die from the radiation that was spread. People either passed away instantly or later on during their life they were diagnosed with rare diseases. Sadako was one of them; she grew up as a normal healthy kid but later on she got older she started feeling sick and she was diagnosed with leukemia.

I would have everyone do it by following my directions, I would do up on the projector for all of my students to see. 
when all my students are done I would create a branch out of paper and have all students put their cranes on it .

I love how it covers all aspects of the topic such as the history of it, the tragedy, but also some of the great things of the setting such as the hands on activity of making a paper crane like in the book. Great thinking in your hinge activity to break up more traditional lectures and let students have a sort of break and have fun while also staying with the unit topic and content. Also great choice in using a more lighthearted video on a very heavy and tragic topic such as the Hiroshima bombing.
