I would put a TEG in my fire place to charge a load of batteries. These batteries would then provide power if the power was to go out. You can also use a TEG to power the fan in your kitchen that pulls out the cooking smells. If you place the probe where the heat rises it will become very hot and the kitchen fan will cool the other side so that there can be a flow of electricity.

Like a fireplace & a charging port.

I would put the TEG in the oven because of the heat the oven uses to cook food. it would be a good source of thermal energy and from that thermal energy it can be distributed to other parts of the house. it can especially be used once the oven is cooling down once it is turned off after it has just been on.

I would put the TEG by either a fireplace or near the heating system. Both of those places are a good source of heat and by positioning the other end somewhere else, it would create a temperature difference allowing electricity to be made. This electricity can be used to charge batteries or phones.
