What I got from the video is that people should incorporate positive or happy things in their lives. An example, if my house is messy I'm not going to be positive, but if my house is clean or I am cleaning it that makes me happy. Clean equals a positive personal experiences. When there is chaos there is no peace, if there is no chaos there is peace. Another good thing is when you get a good grade on your paper, you're happy. If you had bad things happen in the past you try to forget about them, but it isn't easy sometimes. That's why I feel that you should have a daily goal for yourself everyday. This way you would have a positive outlook for that day. The more positive things that happen in a person's life they happier they will be. I am currently working on a positive challenge for myself. It doesn't hurt to have a little challenge but make sure it's not to hard of challenge. If you can keep yourself in the flow the better you may feel about things. I am in my flow when I get to cleaning my home and I don't realize what time it is. For me that is a good thing.

Positive psychology is the scientific study of the things in life that make us feel happy that we're alive. Positive psychology is not at all replacing psychology. However, positive psychology compliments psychology pretty well. Positive psychology allows you to build on the best things your life has to offer, while tearing down the worst in a way. Positive psychology isn't a magic wand to happiness. But it encourages you to keep the positive things and habits in your life, in order to make your life happier and fulfilling. We as humans forget the brutality of life when we're surrounded by negativity and not enough positivity.

Positive psychology is the study that focuses on the things in our lives that keep us motivated and the things that keep us positive. It allows us to focus on and add on to the good factors in out lives rather than focusing on how to fix the negatives. It turns our attention to our opportunities and happiness instead of leading our attention to the bad things that we want to change.

I think Positive Psychology has a vary incorporative meaning. The sources you've provided explain that positive psychology is not meant to replace traditional psychology; since both are very beneficial depending on the situation. Positive psychology welcomes optimism, responsibility, and intentional perspectives to life, encouraging a more mindful and understanding focus.

The Studies and Research section explains some common views that either are or aren't more beneficial; i.e. the obscurity of money contributing to happiness; and the grand impact of gratitude.

This perspective towards mental and life activity empowers the individual to shift their focus to what will liberate them and keep life better than bearable; but enjoyable. One of the most intriguing pieces of information for me was the process toward happiness and otherwise meaningfulness; referring to how being present allows for happiness; and the past and futures perceived relevance allows for meaning.

loved this read!

The goal of positive psychology is to make our lives more fulfilling and to look at things from a more positive angle rather than a negative one. It is identifying our strengths rather than dwelling on our weaknesses. Positive psychology uses flow, mindfulness, and learned optimism.

So often people dwell on “what is wrong with me” or “today was an awful day,” rather than the alternative of “what is right with me” and “what were some good things about today?”

The most difficult hurdle of positive psychology, to me, would seem to be being self aware, living in the present, and unlearning learned helplessness. It is so easy for us to look at the negative parts of life and ourselves to a point where the positive seems like it doesn’t exist. It’s easy to look on the past and identify our mistakes, thus giving us more worry about the mistakes we will make in the future. We have to recognize that our mistakes and hardships don’t define us, but can influence who we are and who we become. Though we always have to power the change. Learning to be more optimistic in our lives can open more doors for us mentally and physically. Whereas a negative perspective and using learned helplessness can make it feel like doors are being slammed in our faces left and right. Happiness’s is a tough fight, but that does not mean it is unattainable.

If we applied positive psychology to education, business, and government as the video mentions, we could all feel more seen and heard as students, employees, and citizens in a community. As well as develop more understandings of each other and have more empathy. After all, I believe everyone wants to feel more fulfilled and that they have meaning.

To my understanding positive psychology focuses heavily on the quality of life through the mind. While psychology as a whole focuses on the brain and the mental aspects of all of life positive psychology seems to focus on the aspects of the mind that we are in control of. While we may not be able to control or own subconscious there are choices we can make mentally and physically to create a better or more positive life. By taking action to be mindful and focusing on the things were in control of we can create a better mental quality and physical quality to our lives.

Prior to reading and watching the material above, I was under the impression that positive Psychology was the focus on happiness and how to achieve it. Since so much of psychology is rooted in negatives like mental illness, trauma, etc. After reading and watching, my understanding is that while positive psychology is a more positive practice and rooted in focusing on the good, it's not meant to replace any other psychology but to instead work alongside them to find a balance. Positive psychology seems to be more so in line with focusing on everything that is going right in your life than what's going wrong. In focusing on the good, it seems we can better understand what those good things do for us and how we can gain more of that. If we focus on our strengths and experiences that we enjoy and look fondly on, we can gravitate more towards those things and thrive in the process.

As an example, someyhing I had considered for a long time was simply going to college aiming for a career that pay a lot of money despite how I feel about the work itself. In taking classes for these subjects, I realized my lack of interest made it miserable to study the content. I couldn't focus and eventually fell further and further away from it. That's why it was really interesting to me to learn about the "good work project". I resonate with this idea because it makes clear sense to me. In the illustration that talks about this project, you see these people who look like zombies walking along a path to riches, whilst the people on the other path are thriving within their choices. "Success" can be forced but is likely to make you miserable, whereas if you do something you love and are passionate about, that pulls you into that "flow" state, you are like to be happier on the journey and successful because you enjoy what you're doing! If you love what you do, you're destined to be good at it!

Anyway, I think that overall, positive psychology focuses on ways we can better our lives through things like mindfulness, learned optimism, etc. In turn this is bound to improve our well-being! I'm excited to learn more!

Positive psychology really is a overall view of your positive mindset on the world and how you can let your mind bring greater initiatives into your life if you think any more positive way and have better hopes for yourself than more than just mental of getting through the day psychology on its own is more of the mental research of the brain and why we feel the way we feel in all different aspects as for positive psychology your focuses on why we are happy and what makes us happy

Positive psychology is a scientific study of what in life makes you happy. Instead of holding onto the belief that happiness is something that just happens, it allows us to shift our perspective on how happiness is something that we must make. Positive Psychology uses the PERMA model (positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning, and accomplishment) to help us find optimism and have gratitude, which has been proven through research to increase life satisfaction. Dr. Seligman is known to be a co-founder of the positive psychology movement. After becoming president of the American Psychology Association in 1998 he worked quickly with Mihaly to publish the subfield of positive psychology in 2000. It's important to be aware however that positive psychology to meant to work in conjunction with what we'd believe to be the "negative aspect" in psychology that don't necessarily make you feel good, to help promote more life satisfaction.

The scientific study of what makes life worth living is known as positive psychology. Instead of just treating mental illness or easing pain, it shows the qualities, strengths, and elements that lead to human happiness. In positive psychology, people may have a happy and meaningful life by feeling good, doing things that make them happy, forming bonds with others, discovering their purpose, and growing personally. It reminds you that your abilities and goals are more important than the opinions of others and encourages you to focus on your strengths, resilience, and personal development.
