Caused by a sharp object piercing the skin and underlying tissues, creating a small, deep hole. Puncture wounds can be caused by nails, needles, or other sharp objects and may not bleed much on the surface, making them prone to infection as the wound closes quickly.

Initial care - it is important to clean the wound thoroughly with soap and water, gently irrigate the wound with saline solution if available, apply an over-the-counter antibiotic ointment, and cover the wound with a sterile bandage. It is crucial to seek medical attention for puncture wounds, as they may require further evaluation, cleaning, and possibly a tetanus shot depending on the circumstances of the injury.

Post care - it is essential to monitor for signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, warmth, or drainage, and seek medical attention if these symptoms develop. Keep the wound clean and dry, change the bandage regularly, and avoid putting pressure on the affected area to allow for proper healing.

A portion of the skin or tissue is torn away from the body, exposing underlying structures such as muscles, tendons, or bones. Avulsion wounds can be severe and may require immediate medical attention.

Initial care - it is important to control bleeding by applying pressure to the wound with a clean cloth or bandage. If possible, gently clean the wound with mild soap and water without removing any tissue fragments. Cover the wound with a clean, sterile dressing or bandage to protect it from further contamination.

Post care - keeping the wound clean and dry, changing the dressing regularly, and monitoring for signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, or pus.
