Elementary Oliver will be in D because he is by the teachers desk and the dry erase board. He also will have more opportunity to not be distracted. Aliyah will be in A because It places her away from the computer and by the teachers desk. Abigail will be in M because she is far enough from distractions an won't have the opportunity to take the attention away from the class. Paulo is going to be placed in V because he is in a wheelchair and is around other students to work well and communicate during group class.

Two reasons Sofia could be drifting off while doing independent activities is that she is sitting at the furthest desk/table from the teacher and is surrounded by multiple people on multiple different sides. If the teacher is to change the seating chart, we recommend that Sofia is moved to either Q or CC since those seats are not surrounded by as many people and is in clear view from the teachers desk.

We suggest that Paulo sits in desk PP because he is in a wheelchair and that seat offers extra space and has no obstacles between the seat and the door. Oliver should sit in seat E because it is close to the dry erase board, demonstration table, and he is not near other students which makes him less likely to be distracted. Aliyah will sit in seat C so she can come out of her shell and take guidance from other students, the teacher will be able to monitor her being on task. This seat is also far from the computer (her main distraction.) Abigail will sit in seat S so she can not monopolize the teachers attention. She is also not near other students so she can't talk to them during learning

We would put Oliver in seat A because that is one of the closest to the white board but it also would be less distracting than seat B. Aliyah-would be put in seat L since she is easily distracted by the computer. Also since she is good at pretending to do her work she should be pretty close up front but she is also shy so we won't put her in the front row. Abigail- would be put in seat J that way she is close to the teacher but not too close to monopolize her. Also since she is strong at reading she might be able to help those around her who are struggling more. Paulo- will be put in seat P that way his seat is always easily accessible when he enters the room.

Sophia: Reason one- her seat is in the back of the room, causing her not to pay attention during whole group demonstration. Reason two- She is behind another group during discussions, which can lead to distractions.

A seat we would suggest Sophia sitting in is seat Q, this is because it is next to the demonstration table, away from students in different groups, and close to the smart board.

Sophia should be facing the smart board instead of the windows. It is important for the teacher to check in on Sophia to ensure she is on task and contributing to group discussion.

One potential reason that Sophia could be off task is due to the fact that she is in the back of the classroom. Another potential reason could be the distance between her and the teacher since she can't see the teacher that great for a demonstration, she is facing toward the wall. Sophia can be moved to seat W to increase her on-task behavior during both whole-group demonstration and small-group demonstration. This location at seat W will help keep her on task and will be able to be watched by the teacher if she needs help when it comes to demonstrations.

Oliver- We think he should be placed in seats A or B or D or E. He will be close to the board, can go up to help the teacher. He will have limited distraction from other students by limiting the number of students he is around.

Aliyah- Seat P, possibly J or H. All the seats have the back of the student toward the computer, which would make sure Aliyah wouldn't get distracted by the computer.

Abigail- She could be placed in the back such as Q . Since she is a stronger reader and won't try to monpolize the teacher's attention as much.

Paulo- We would put him at T because it is more accessible when entering the room, but is still in the middle of his peers.

For whole-group instruction, Sophia is most likely having a ton of distractions because she is seated in the back right corner of the classroom and she is facing the window, which sets up for outside distractions. When in small groups, the same distractions would occur since Sophia is seated in the same spot.

As a change of seating, Sophia should be placed more towards the demonstration desk, specifically seat W at the center table in the front. This would minimize classroom and outside distractions and help maintain focus on the content.

Abigail was placed further from the teacher because she has a strong personality and seeks attention.
