My score is a 37 which means I have a growth mindset. I somewhat believe this because I do believe that my intelligence, personality and abilities are something I can increase. The other part is I am willing to work hard and I do want to do well.

I think I am very creative because I like to make stuff. I also like to draw, sculpt, and paint. I can offer more creativity to the world instead of just copying someone else’s idea. I am curious about what the power of the human mind is capable of. I think that if the scientists of our generation can learn more about viruses and bacterial infections, then we could find cures for them.

I think that Mindset Mondays are not very convenient because not a lot of people like Mondays. But it is a good way to get the mind going at the start of the day and the start of the week.

I think that the idea of “you learn through failure” is true/ Say you fail a math quiz; you can just do corrections. And by doing those questions, you learn. When you fail, you probably do not know how to do that topic, so by failing, you essentially can learn even more because first off, you will get help from friends and the teacher, and second off, if you do the corrections, you can understand the topic even more and you will feel good about yourself. So in conclusion, you do learn by failing and it is a good concept that every math teacher should adapt to.

I think that when you are being taught to learn an instrument, it does take hard work. Just like math, if you do not learn and comprehend the topic that you are focused on, then you may not succeed. I would know because I played the clarinet for four years. At first, I had no clue what I was doing, but then after the years went by, I got better at it. So if you are struggling at doing good in math class, then just practice, even if you have no clue what you are doing. If you practice for long enough, then you might just be the #1 math student in your class.

1) The comparison used in the first four paragraphs was say if you can only lift 20 pounds when you first start working out. Then as time goes by, you begin to lift more weight. Then by the end, you are able to lift 100 pounds. So, this is the same for your brain. If you study for a big test, then after the test, you just forget about it, then you aren't really comprehending the whole subject.
2) New connections form in the brain when you learn new things. This matters because these new connections stay with you and they will be with you when you need them for a test, or an oral report.
3) The key to growing the brain is to learn and comprehend what you are given. The reasoning for this is if you do not comprehend your work, then it will go in one ear and out the other.
4) This article applies to me because I am not very good with comprehending stuff. If I am told to remember something so I do not forget it the next day, I will not remember that task I was given. It also applies to me because when I am told to study for a big test, I don't. And that is my problem. I think I can remember it, but I cannot.

The metaphor in this gif is there are a lot of things that people hide from one another. This means that people that are relating to this gif should really start to tell other people about this. Now all of the things shown on the gif are not bad things, such as dedication, hard work, and good habits. But there are more bad things than there are good things, such as disappointment, sacrifice, failure, and resistance. The ideas in this gif relate to me because when I'm in school, I have good habits, but when I'm out of school, I generally do not have good habits. This also relates to me because sometimes I feel like a failure and I can't do anything, but there are other times that I feel like I can do anything. Many of the ideas shown in this gif are very relatable because most of them are true about me as a person

These ideas relate to my career plans and my work I have done in ELA this year because the author says that you don't need to have connections in any industry to get a job, you just need to be good at what you do. The answer to number 4 is very true. It says you need to be willing to start at the bottom and work your way up throughout your career. When you are looking for a job that you like, you don't need to give anything to the employer to get a job, you need to be good at whatever it is that you are pursuing.

1) Self-regulation is the ability to control the way you act through any motion, but in this case, through sleeping time and getting up on time.
2) Self-regulation relates to sleep because of what I had previously said, the time that you spend sleeping. If you don't get enough sleep, then you will either be tardy, or you will miss an entire day of school.
3) On average I usually go to bed at 10:30, and get up at 6:15. But some nights I tend to want to stay up longer, going past 11:00 and even midnight.
4) These are not changes I need to make, because if I do miss school then it is either because I have an appointment somewhere, or I am feeling sick and do not want to pass around the sickness.
5/5

1) Two things that he said were more important than IQ was one of them was self discipline. While you're studying, you should use this as a way of keeping yourself going, like when you don't want to study for the test that you have in Spanish class, most of the time it will keep you going because if you say you're gonna stop, then you can use this. Another thing he said was work hard. When he says this, he means don't JUST work hard, work at your full potential.
2) He means work at your full potential. It could also mean take your time and work at your own pace.
3) My overall grade for the first quarter was an 80.75. On a scale of 1-5, I would say that I'm at a 3, because I know I can do my work, it's just most of the time I don't feel like doing it. I will start using my agenda more, because half of the time I forget what I have to do, I will stay after school to get some extra help, and I will not miss school, so I don't get behind on my work.

5/5 Sounds like good planning for improvement

It matters because when you are, say reading a book, you could classify a character as "gritty". When a character is gritty, he/she is very passionate about what they do. The people that are characterized by grit are older men and women.
2) They could start thinking about certain situations the other way around. Like when you're thinking about doing a project that is due in like a month, you should only focus on that project, and only that project.
3) My grit score on the quiz was 3.40. It relates to my life in school because one time I was given a project to do for a science fair, and I started to get to work on it then I got distracted and I barely got it finished.
5/5

When he was young, his parents thought he was mentally retarded. His grades were so poor that a teacher asked him to quit, saying "You will never amount to anything!" He also didn't speak until he was 4 and didn't read until he was 7.
3) In the past I have failed by getting bad grades and not trying to fix them. I learned from this because I got my grades better throughout the years and hope they can stay that way.

5/5
1. A student with a fixed mindset is a student that is desired to look smart. If this student is treated smart, then they won't put in the work that is needed to pass a grade. These students fear not looking smart because it helps them look good if people call him/her smart.
2. A student with a growth mindset is a student that is hard working, motivated, and wants to BE smart, not just LOOK smart. These students are the ones that get good test grades and have a good understanding of what the subject the class is talking about. These students are also the ones that are at the top for grades within a class.
3. I would say my mindset is a fixed mindset because when people tell me I did good on a test, that makes me happy. But when people tell me that I DIDN'T do good on a test, then that is a motivation to get better grades. I also think my mindset is fixed because I try to do the homework, but half the time I don't even get it, or I just don't like the subject, for example, the book we are reading. I do not like reading and I can't read for a long period of time because I get distracted.

4/5 no personal reflection
1) In the article, it says that motivation is exactly what you don't need to achieve your goals. The thing or method that is more important than motivation is the "if____, then____." method. This method s when you say something like, "if I want to eat healthy for a week, then I will strictly buy fruits and vegetables for dinner."

One strategy I will use this week is staying after with my teachers to get help and to get late assignments in to them so I won't have a failing grade at the end of the quarter. And, staying after helps me understand the topic because sometimes the teacher is the only person you are there with, but also sometimes there is more than one student that is asking for help, the same time you are. Another strategy I want to use is to keep all of the stuff I have to do in my agenda because half of the time I forget what I have to do, and I end up not turning it in on time, thus making my grade lower.

1) He said that when he was a growing athlete/student, he would get his homework as fast as he could. He would do this so he could get all his stuff done so he could go and play basketball. He also showed this growth mindset by helping his athletes with their skills and helping them keep up their grades.
2) I can apply the motto "Fall seven. Rise eight." to my life because it a motivational motto and it could help me with "expanding my horizons" and could also help with me getting my work done. When I hear that, I think of someone who doesn't have a lot of money and doesn't have anything, and when they try and work towards what they want, they can achieve that goal sometime in their life.

1) The learning zone is the zone that you use to improve and get better at the things you need to get better at. The learning zone helps enhance and enlarge you're learning capabilities. When you are in the learning zone, you achieve for improvement. You achieve for mastery, but you aren't quit there yet.
2) In the performance zone, you try to do the best you can. You achieve for execution other than improvement. You have mastered what you needed to and try to get even better at what you mastered.
3) I want to get better at math. The reason for this is because I do not want to have to repeat Algebra 1 next year. The way I can get better is to stay after school and get help from my teacher, or I could look online to see if there are any practices that I can do to improve.

1) The characteristics of someone with a growth mindset are they always want to learn and growth their learning capabilities. For example, when a group of students with a growth mindset were given a choice between a hard puzzle and an easy puzzle, they were more likely to choose the hard puzzle, because it challenged them. Another characteristic of someone with a growth mindset is they are more focused on success and learning.
2) One way someone can develop a growth mindset is listening and writing down notes and understanding the information given to them.
3) I think that the survey would show some improvement. I think this because throughout the year, my grades in my classes have gotten better, and I have been scoring better on quizzes and tests.

1) Myelin is a chemical that wraps around nerves to make those nerves keep doing those activities, and it makes us learn and get better at that task or activity.
2) The butt kickers are the best learners because they know how to learn and they know how to learn successfully. These are the people that get good grades and make good decisions. These are the people that aren't afraid to fail, and sometimes find joy in failing.
3) You should let it do whatever it is doing, because when you try and push it into the back of your mind, it gets stronger and keeps telling you not to do that. You should also reason with it, like say you were on a walk and you saw someone get robbed, your instinct would tell you call 911, or you could fight back the lizard brain and chase after the person, risking that you could be robbed as well.

1) A mind virus is a saying that ruins our mindset, and corrupts our beliefs in what we can and cannot do. They are also things that we hear from other people and we begin to repeat it to ourselves, then we become more apt to believing that saying. It is like a meme because they are things that are passed from one another, and memes are just like that.
2) The mind virus that gets in my way the most is "They are so much smarter than I am." or "I can't do this."
3) The medicine to combat these mind viruses is to always counter think the thought. For example, if you are saying to yourself, "This is too hard for me.", then go and get better at its so it won't be difficult for you. Or, if you are saying "I feel alone," then get a good group of friends that enjoy being around you and hang out with them. It's simple, just always counter think the thought that is stuck in your head.

There are 7 counterproductive learning habits that us humans face. There is the fear of failure, when you are afraid to fail and want to succeed like everyone else, there is the people that only think perfection is the way to succeed, and there is the students who refuse to ask for help because they are afraid to be wrong. There is also not realizing that the world is changing, meaning that some people are stuck in the past and not really caught up in today's world. People also do not learn from others, causing them to become isolationists and not reach out to anyone, and people will also not help others. The last counterproductive learning habit is when you set low expectations for yourself, such as "I can't do this," or "I'm not good enough to figure this out," etc.
