The immune system has multiple defenses against bacteria. The first is the skin which can block pretty much everything unless you get a cut. If you do, the inner immune system takes care of the cut. It also hunts down any bacteria that managed to get in. They have special cells that go around and eat invaders. Once the body sounds the alarm for an invasion, the special cells go towards the area to stop bacteria.

The immune system involves lymphocytes, lymph nodes, White blood cells, skin and bone marrow. The immune system uses an arsenal of physical and chemical barriers, killer cell and even fever to keep you healthy. Your immune system fights infection in your body. The natural killer cells kill the bad cells. The white bloods fight cells like pathogens. The immune system gets warned when there is an infection from the inflammatory response.

Your body also has other immune defenses, like your white blood cells. Cells like these travel around your body or are fixed in position and "eat" bad cells.

The immune system has many different ways to fight or block bacteria from getting into the body. The skin is the main defense and protects the body from bacteria until you get a scrape or cut. Then phagocytes are the next, which destroy or eat the bacteria or invaders. Some varieties of phagocytes are neutrophils, which are the most abundant white blood cell, and macrophages, which are "big eaters". Your body reacts to bacteria by chemical signs, inflammation, and fever. The body can signal the phagocytes to come and fight off the bacteria.
