I used to think that grades motivated a percentage of our students, now I believe they do not.

I used to think grading on behavior or class preparedness was fair.....now I believe they need to be academically based

I used to think that many of my students were extremely grade driven. Now I believe that it is a combination of grades and the desire to take ownership in their own learning and success.

I used to think that any form of a redo (lower % than 100) was OK but now I think all students MUST have the opportunity to earn 100%

I used to thik that differentiation was so overwhelming , but now I bleive it mainly a mind set.

I used to think pointing out every mistake would help students figure out where they were failing...now I believe

that helping kids self-reflect will be more beneficial in their growth and me being a guide to that reflection will be longer lasting.

I used to think that there were times when our compliant but unengaged kids were still learning, but now I think they are just staring into space

I used to think that we (Science) had a good retake policy, but now I think that we need to go back and revamp it and make it more student supportive

I used to think that teacher reflection was the most important, but now I believe that student reflection may be more important. Both are really needed together.

I used to think that failure is not an option...but now I realize how important the learning process is ALL the time!

I always thought that teachers did what was fair for students. Now I believe we have to remind teachers...what is fair is not always equal.
