Expand initiatives to increase the numbers of physicians, registered nurses and behavioral health professionals who are Latino/x to improve Latino/x Californians’ access to culturally and linguistically concordant care.  
Improve access to language concordant clinicians by (1) funding the training of health professionals fluent in Spanish and (2) encouraging CA medical schools to take Spanish language skills into account when making admission decisions, (3) fund initiatives and programs to facilitate speakers of CA indigenous languages to enter the health workforce.

Enforce use of interpreters when patients who speak Spanish or indigenous languages in clinical encounters to ensure Latino/xs who have limited English proficiency can communicate effectively with their providers.

Ensure health education materials and instructions for patients and families are written at the reading level of people who have not completed high school and in English and Spanish. Encourage the use health information technology including video and other materials appropriate for patients with low health literacy.

The State should ensure that health plans link patients to usual source of care, via the use of community health workers, health navigators, and other mechanisms.

Improve access to linguistically and culturally responsive treatment for alcohol use disorder for Spanish and indigenous language speakers.

Building on the CalAim dental initiative, improve access and use of dental care for Latino/x children, particularly those insured through MediCal, via school programs, navigators and parental education.
