It was filmed at Paramount Studios, in Hollywood, California (US) and it is based on Cornell Woolrich's 1942 short story called "It Had to Be Murder".

The movie was directed by Alfred Witchcock and it had been played by James Stuart (as LB "Jeff" Jefferies, a photojournalist), Grace Kelly as Lisa Carol Fremont (a high fashion model and Jeff's girlfriend), Wendell Corey as Thomas Doyle, who was a detective and Jeff's friend, other actress was Thelma Ritter as Stella, who was Jeff's nurse and Raymond Burr as Lars Thorwald (the antagonist of the film).

Finally, when "Rear Window" was released, it wasn't dubbed into other languages, but it was presented in its original English language with subtitles, but today it is dubbed into English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Japanese.
