 Charles Montesquieu was a famous philosopher who played an influence on our modern-day America. Very similar to other philosophers, he felt that the government and the states exist to serve the will of the people. However, Charles believed in three types of government, monarchy, democracy, and dictatorship in which they are ruled by the people. He created the idea of having an equal distribution between the select branches. This is known as the separation of power.  Today in our Presidential Democracy, we see this distribution between the Legislative, Executive, and Judicial branches. Long, story short, Charles Montesquieu is the the founder for our system of government and our Constitution.
