         <title>Cichlids &amp; Nile Perch</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human impact</strong>:<br>Humans had introduced the Nile Perch into Lake Victoria and the Cichlids would be eaten by them but also were fished for.<br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity Altered</strong>:<br>The species of the ecosystem was altered from a new species being add to Lake Victoria.<br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>:<br>The British had brought the Nile Perch into lake VIctoria and the Nile Perch had ate the Cichlids resulting in 200 extinct spices of Cichlids. Because they eat algae, the algae increased and oxygen had decreased.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human Impact</strong>: The arrival of humans on Mauritius( a small Indian ocean island) they brought animals that would eat the flightless birds eggs. They also hunted them.<br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity Altered</strong>: <br>Due to the small size of the population of dodo birds and the relatively low dodo bird diversity after 80 years since the humans arrived the dodo birds went extinct<br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>: The flightless dodo bird population was doing fine until the arrival of humans. From the human &amp; animal introduction to the island, the dodo population with there low diversity were not able to adapt and eventually went extinct.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human Impact</strong>:  Results of thousand of years of dog breeding that began 14,000 years ago when humans first domesticated the the gray wolf.<br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity Altered</strong>: Genetic diversity, they are different types of dogs but have some same genes.<br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>: The main idea of this article,is to tell you about how domestic dogs are members of the subspecies "Canis lupas familiaris" and show you the results of thousands of years of dog breeding that began about 14,000 years ago. Today there are hundreds of breeds of dogs, each breed has specific characteristics selected by human breeders. Now we can have different kinds of dogs.Today there are a hundred of breeds of Canis lupas familiaris. For instance, golden retrievers,and poodles to other kind of dogs. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Flying Foxes</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human Impact</strong>:<br>Overexploitation because of the over using the foxes as luxurious foods, for sport and their medicinal properties.<br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity</strong> <strong>Altered</strong>: 79% of the species would not be able to pollinate if its main pollinator, the flying fox becomes extinct due to exploitation. The wild banana rely solely on the flying fox and without the banana the people in that economy rely on the banana to make textile, rope and paper and food.<br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>:<br>The main idea of this article, is to present information regarding the endangered species of the flying foxes in the South Pacific islands. <br>They talk about the importance of the flying foxes and how the human lives and wants have disrupted the ecosystem by overexploiting  the species. They also give measures that the US has taken to decrease this risk of extinction.</div>]]></description>

         <title>Florida panther </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human Impact</strong>: Panther population of the south-eastern United States had been hunted to near extinction. Now, urban and agricultural development and resulting habitat loss have cut the panther population down to 5% that was it originally was. <br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity Altered</strong>: Isolation of certain panthers caused inbreeding which led to reduced fertility, heart abnormalities, and infectious diseases among the population. <br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>: Over hunting and agricultural development caused the Florida Panther population to drastically decrease close to the point of extinction. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Elephant Seals</title>

US and Mexican governments later protected them with a ban on their hunting. <br><br><strong>Type of Biodiversity Altered:</strong> genetic diversity, just one male survived to reproduce with females, but this has not hindered the growth of the elephant seal population.<br><br><strong>Main Idea: </strong>\</div>]]></description>

         <title>Potato (Ireland)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Human Impact</strong>: Potatoes were brought over from Spain to Ireland and the Irish discovered they could grow more in a small area when they planted only lumper potatoes. However potatoes are vulnerable to fungus infestations especially lumper potatoes. In 1845 the potato blight fungus was carried from England to Ireland and eventually all of Europe which led to a famine killing most of the potato crops in Ireland in days, which also led to 1 in 8 Irish people dying from famine in 3 years  <br><br><strong>Types of Biodiversity Altered</strong>: lumper potatoes were infected by phytophthora fungus which led to most potato crops in Ireland dying in the 1840's.<br><br><strong>Main Idea</strong>: The main idea in the article is that the Irish over relied on  a single food source being potatoes which eventually led to a famine that killed lots of people in a very short time.</div>]]></description>
