Please create a visual timeline for important events in your family history project from the mid-19th century to the 1930s. In creating this timeline, attention should be paid to the intersections between macro-level events and the micro-level personal stories.

Married to a farmer while we work in the fields of a farm in the yellow river basin, working for a wealthy landlord no one in the family has an education and money is at a minimum. Life isn't easy as Peasants, however my husband and I do get by through hard work and dedication to farming.

Opium has breached my way into my family, my husband has stopped working and spends any money we receive in order to further abuse his addiction like many other men in my region. I fear that part of his pathway to addiction was because we were unable to pay taxes as the cost of silver has increased beyond our abilities to pay. My son has started to notice how much my husbands addiction is impacting our lives as we can no longer pay for what we have. To make matters worse the Nian rebels have come too close to home as they recently entered the Shangdong Providence due to a famine making it even more impossible for farming causing my village to be in severe debt. I hope that things turn around for my son and I soon.

I support revolution as a means to help fellow peasants as I believe reform is not a means to the end of our suffering. As a woman I would also hope a revolution would bring a wave of help and give us more rights within our homes as I do not believe Confucius reforms would aid in anyway.
My family continues to suffer under the Qing with Warlords being the major antagonist against my family moving up socially. I hope that one day my family can surpass peasantry and not have to worry about goods being produced as the only way to stay afloat and pay taxes with little profit for ourselves.

My family had to start selling our livestock as a way to pay taxes as there is a famine affecting the Shangdong providence. However, I am happy to hear that the Great War is over, especially since Shangdong having been a major port for the Germans had helped with the local economy however, I fear that we will not see much more growth as China aided the Allies. We will see if the relations between China and Germany changes much as countries regain their strength after the war. Speaking of I heard that theres a debate in france whether to give Shangdong to Imperialist Japan, while I do hope that doesn't happen I would like to know how that would change the lives for us Peasants, honestly, we would probably suffer even more than we have now so I hope the treaty allows us to stay as part of China.

With the CCP slowly making its way into rural providences my husband and I hope that Mao Zedong and Communism make its way throughout China-- we feel as if Communism will help us to finally move up in status as we would want the assets of the rich to be shared with us who have been working away on their crops with no recognition and little profit for generations. As the Shangdong Problem has finally been resolved and we continue to be part of China I feel it is important for my family as well as families that are close to us to look into the CCP and see how much it has to offer us. As a woman I also like Mao's views on women, giving people like my daughter a real chance in life where she can truly marry for love like he did in the Jiangxi Soviet. The CCP after all should be for us fellow peasants and a party with us in mind has to be better than the KMT.
