Schools reduce social differences and heighten students in low-ability groups who receive less coverage of the curriculum and are taught by less experienced teachers. Students placed in high ability groups have access to richer schooling.

I would say that yes it does. I think in the eyes of the school, all are given the equal opportunity to be successful. however, there are certain factors outside of school that can put some students at an advantage. for example, if a family is having trouble at home and this is causing stress on the student, then that can carry into the classroom. Every students personal life is different and those factors can be advantageous or hold them back.

I think that it can prevent further differences by allowing students to do the best they can for where they are at. Instead of forcing some students to work slower than they are used to and forcing others to keep up with a pace that is far too complicated and fast for them, these methods can group students who learn in similar ways together to help them learn according to their capabilities.

Wealthier families will no longer be confined to we4alth neighborhoods to get good schools and can find them in more places.

I think that some times it does because the school can only do so much for the student. I wish the case was every student received the same opportunity but they do not. Some students do get more because they can afford it. It sucks to admit but that is how it works. \Money keeps the world going round and I am not just saying that but it is the cold hard truth. Some students end up struggling a little more because some opportunities need to be funded and they can not provide that.

They do not make students who have a good financial status feel more above the other students who may not. This is so important to implement in early childhood because those kids do what they see and do not completely understand right from wrong. If we have teachers showing them it is okay for them to make fun of or belittle a student because they have fewer finances then they will do it. School Systems are good about making an environment feel equal and not taking away from the innocence of the fact that everyone has to build a life and can not live off of their parents forever. They eventually have to become independent. Students are able to understand that everyone deals with something and that money is important but so is equal education and support.

If students are unable to meet the economic needs, ones that are outside of the school system's control, they are not going to be able to have the appropriate amount of access to the opportunities that the school provides. If students are unable to have equal access then the equality of the opportunities has no effect on the ability of the students to receive and take advantage of said opportunities.

The equalizing of school finances will only slightly help to ensure an equal education for children from all social classes. Because of the way that our modern day society is set up, there will always be an unrealistic expectation for equality in and outside of the classrooms within schools. The equalizing of finances will only be able to ensure equal access to education for most schools but there is no way that it will be able to guarantee equal education. Each social class that a student comes from provides a different background and a different set of needs, these backgrounds and the way that these needs are met are what decide whether or not the student will receive an education equal to that of someone from a different social class.

Yes, all are given the opportunity but due to outside circumstances outside of school, it makes things difficult for some. Examples are given in text (62) " Children with parents who read to them and expose them to variety of cultural events are often better prepared for school and learning than children whose parents are illiterate." It all depends on social class.

The school attempts to be equal and attempts to reduce social differences, but it heightens as well. Students fight battles outside of school, and for some students, it's worse than others. School is the starting point but in the end it boils down to race, income, gender, rich and poor districts, social class of their parents, or any disabilities.

However that is not the only thing, the economic circumstances are an even bigger factor in the growth and development as well as the opportunity for a student. Students with particular rough economic situations tend to have less of a chance to go to college. Another factor is these students feeling an obligation to take care of their family therefore not taking the opportunity a school may provide.

Given just how important parental background is to the student, there often comes to a point where the school is unable to help much more. Money is an incredibly important factor when discussing opportunity, it is the driving force behind what a student can and cannot do. Schools can help alleviate that gap in some aspects, but at the least the way that many of the run now, that is incredibly hard to be able to accomplish. Parental support is another thing that is so incredibly important, becasue if a student lacks help at home, it is harder for them to even get those opportunities, academic or otherwise.

As schools function at the current moment, schools do try to reduce those social differences the best way they can, but often it still ends up showing up anyway in a variety of different ways. Each student in the classroom is given the opportunity to do well, but it also concerns how willing the teacher is to go that extra mile to help a student, whether possible disabilities are addressed and correct accommodations given ,that sort of that.

When all funding is used equally for students of all different types of backgrounds, this gives all students the best opportunities to succeed since this will help bring up good schools for lower income students to be apart of. There will overall be less of gap between richer and poorer students in terms of educational knowledge due to each getting the chance to truly succeed and do well at school.

I believe that equality of opportunity is dependent on economic circumstances, the power of schooling, and other influential factors. For example, a higher class student that is failing a subject will most likely have more resources to aid in their understanding of the subject whereas a lower class student that is failing a subject may not have the same access to helpful resources. Tutors and tutoring programs can become extremely expensive, depending on the course, so a wealthier family will have an easier time accessing that resource whereas a less wealthy family may significantly struggle to provide that resource.

I believe schools reduce social differences through ability grouping, tracking, teacher expectations, and counseling because each of these provide a place for the student to thrive in a way that best suits them. For example, I was tested as gifted in first grade and was then placed in a program called Horizons. This program allowed me to combine my creativity with the topics we were learning, which is how I learn best. Programs like this, as well as counselors and the sessions they have with students to discuss how they are doing in terms of progress, and high but reasonable teacher expectations allow students to overcome social differences and focus more on their achievements and how far they have come from where they began.

The equalizing of school finances will ensure an equal education for children from all social classes because no form of finance for a student's family should be unequal. When a family enrolls their child into a school, the finances they must pay to help the school should not be unequal on any base. Any school's funding and financing should be equal throughout. A sports team should not be given more financial advantages than the cheerleaders and band members that support them. The same is true for any form of school finance. If school finances are equalized, then an equal education for children from all social classes will be ensured because there is absolutely no bias, unfairness, or discrimination.

I would say that equality of Opportunity does depend a bit on economic circumstances outside of school for students. I believe this as students come from all different types of backgrounds including financial situations. Some students simply can not afford to participate in extracurriculars or have the resources such as laptops to do school work from home.

I believe that schools do or could reduce social differences though ability grouping and counseling especially. I believe through ability grouping it can help students feel less alone as they would be able to have a visual representation that there are other students who learn at the same pace as them or the same way as well. I also believe that counseling can help by also helping students feel less alone with what they are going through.

It would help give all students the same opportunity to thrive in school and receive the same education. Doing so would help lay the foundation for students to feel prepared for college as well as be better prepared to achieve their future career goals as well.
