To attract a female teenage audience i chose to use a ombre pink and purple background as personally i think these colours are associated with females. In addition to this a mixed gender magazine tends to have grey/ white backgrounds as these are neutral colours which means the magazine looks more mixed gender. Furthermore the central image fills the page, this is because when you observe a magazine cover the first thing that draws your attention is the celebrity on the cover which makes people buy the magazine if they are already interested in the celebrity or they follow them. The second thing that attracts my attention to a magazine is the masthead, a lot of people buy magazines if its a popular magazine. Teenage girls are no interested in formal language in a magazine they want a bit of gossip. I wanted to make my magazine presentable to teenage girls but also needed it to look grown up enough that they would read it. The use of my double page spread being conversational means that it appears to be a bit more gossip related and for teenage girls this is ideal.
