         <description><![CDATA[<div>SST stands for Student Support Team. The goal of the SST is to review the concerns (regarding specific students) of the classroom teacher and the student's parents/guardians to develop an action plan that will address those concerns.<br><br>The SST members are directly involved in the student's life that include parents/guardians, teachers, school leaders, school support staff, CAIU  (Capital Area Intermediate Unit) personnel such as the school counselor, speech and language clinician, and remedial specialist.<br><br><strong>Need Help with SST?</strong><br>Contact Miss Rachel, SST Coordinator @<br>rgriffin@ssbvm.org<br>484-908-9670 (text only)<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <title>Process to Using School Psychologist </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>IU School Psychologist, Devon Tweet; process for using him</strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong>ACT 89 (ANPS or EP)</strong></div><div><strong>Act 89 programs are administered by Intermediate Units following regulations and procedures of the Department of Education and the Public School Code of Pennsylvania. Services provided are determined:</strong></div><ul><li>by those already offered in the school district in which the nonpublic school is located;</li><li>by student need based on consultation with administrators, teachers, students, and parents;</li><li>by budgetary allocations; and</li><li>by the supply of qualified personnel, materials, and equipment.</li></ul><div><br></div><div><strong>EP (Equitable Participation)</strong></div><ol><li>EP process includes testing with a diagnosis outcome being a diagnosis; letter to home school district or IU (Meg Mecutch) required to be submitted by parents; student very far behind or exhibiting some serious issues in class that have become barriers; 60 days after permission is signed that comes from Meg, not parent</li><li>Outcome of EP, parents can use report to get an IEP or GIEP generated to have a meeting with District to review IEP; give to IEP to SSBVM to identify similar services at our school</li></ol><div><strong>ANPS (Aide to Non-Public Schools)</strong></div><ol><li>Observation/Consultations--looking at classroom behaviors and attention issues; requires parent consent form (separate packet); more flexible, done within 60 days but no legal timeline that IU is held to</li></ol><div><br></div><ol><li>IU required testing--packet of required paperwork for parent; everything that EP includes with difference without diagnosis; no mandatory timeline of 60 days; get to as soon as they can</li></ol><div><br></div><div><strong>SSBVM can contact Devon to attend a meeting if it is an SST Escalation; parents also have a right to go through their District for an evaluation instead of using Devon and our IU.</strong></div><div><br></div><div><strong>Emily Normand, School Counselor, can do...</strong></div><ul><li>Consultations with teachers, parents, and Rachel</li><li>Individual counseling for students (1 time meeting then need parent permission form)</li><li>Classroom Lessons</li><li>KBit testing (abilities screening)</li><li>Beck Depression Inventory (up and coming)</li><li>Classroom Observations of students (behavior or socially; Emily can act as another set of eyes); different parent permission form than what Devon uses; but need parent permission form nonetheless</li></ul><div><br><br><br></div>]]></description>
