My name's Eugene and I'm a final year Liberal Arts student at the University of Bristol with a major in Film TV. I have had quite an interesting career journey so far with experiences in publishing, copywriting, marketing and more. Ultimately, I am hoping to get into the Film TV industry as a writer and director.

At the age of 16, I managed to publish my debut novel, Untitled Won, alongside a publishing print. From then on, I have also been personally managing and slowly working on my own website/blog, though this, and the sequel to my novel, unfortunately takes the backseat due to everything else I work on. 

At the age of 17, I founded the EF Academy Purple Angels in Torquay where I led a weekly weekend volunteer group of students for two years who help out at a Memory Cafe for people with dementia and other memory illnesses, ushering and working front-of-house. My other volunteer work include helping to run fundraising events, as well as co-directing and acting in 3 plays of Hamlet where we raised proceeds for local hospices which had suffered NHS budget cuts. 

Alongside my final year of high school, I was also interning with the Swedish education, translation and travel company, EF English First, as their copywriting intern. My main responsibility was writing for their company blog, where my work was picked up and republished by larger educational press prints such as John Catt Educational. 

Upon coming to university, I have been working multiple part-time jobs alongside my studies as well as society committee roles. I have now worked as an international student ambassador (Global lounge ambassador) for two, coming on to three, years spanning my entire journey as an undergrad. In my second year, I was also a peer mentor for the university and now in my third year, I am also a PASS leader for Liberal Arts. 

Whilst working on my final year of university at the moment, I am also the marketing and content intern for the Swedish independent video game studio, Might and Delight, creators of the Shelter video game series and Book of Travels. I have recently successfully run marketing campaigns and played a key role in helping to launch our latest title, Shelter 3. 

I believe wholeheartedly in pursuing an all-rounded career and being a fulfilled person by not only challenging myself but also engaging myself in ventures I had not necessarily seen myself working in previously. Though I am planning on getting into the Film TV industry, I highly doubt that my career will start and end there, so I am excited to meet all of you fellow students and stay connected. I’m studying Law at the University of Bristol – I’ve stayed in the city since the beginning of the Pandemic, so its exciting to think I’m only a few days away from seeing the city slowly get back to its normal self!

My main focus right now is on my degree – I’m about 3 weeks off finishing, so I can’t afford to divert my focus just yet! But I do have a couple of things going on, on the side!

Firstly, I’m a private tutor – much like Harry, having a bit of cash is always a necessity! But I’ve also found it to be a great way to engage my brain without having to worry about my own grades or assessments! 
Secondly, I’m a researcher for the global health think-tank Polygeia! I became fascinated with healthcare law whilst in my second year of study and have tried to pursue it wherever possible; to this end, I worked in health and social care for a short while, my dissertation focus is on the intersection of law and antimicrobial resistance, and I’m acting as a medical researcher!
My research doesn’t quite stop there though – I’m also engaged in a project with the Environmental Law Foundation concerning Climate Emergency Declarations in local councils, which has been really interesting to study. I’ve got a team in Bristol, working alongside some other university teams across the UK as well as the ELF, and we’re hoping to officially publish our findings in June! 
Finally, I’ve got a bit of a blogging background as well – I’m currently employed by BoostBlogs to write law and commercial awareness pieces, and I’ve had a couple blogs approved and published by the university this year in regards to the intersection of Welsh history and oppression.
