I agree that it is imperative to allow room to embrace mistakes and master concepts with agency over their learning. This sort of learning is exciting for students and they tend to want to engage more.

I love this idea! Tech is so powerful! I think the key is making sure that we use it and facilitate our students learning properly. Personalizing the learning, yes. Absolutely. Tracking our students is going to be the key to using technology more powerfully in the classroom. We need to be able to help them answer the 4 PLC questions--what do they need to know? How will they get there? What if they don't know it, what if they already do know it. Our students need to become assessment capable learners.

I think that CBL is a great way to boost education. I also think that as a school district, we are a little ways away from executing it in the best way. I think that we have been trying to do it with our Aleks program and it sort of works but i'm not 100 percent sold on it.

Self-pacing is really nice, however I still think being pushed and stretched in certain cases is important. I would want to incorporate self-pacing in certain areas. But expectations and encouragement goes a long way. I think having students on the same page is so nice, and also allows students to dive deeper into teaching others and therefore mastering the topic.
