1. Different forms of assessments can be done such as student drawings, graphic organizers, and different manipulatives to show student learning. This is great for all students, including those who struggle with English.
2. Providing sentence frames or pre-teaching some of the key vocabulary prior to the lesson can be helpful.
3. Having the students keep a personal Science dictionary or journal where they can write words that they need to learn can be a good way for them to organize their learning.

Getting all students engaged is very important when teaching new concepts. Using charts, tables, diagrams, illustrations, etc. to make learning more engaging for all types of learners. Having interactive games, lessons, activities, is the best way to get these studnets involved in the learning. Any hands-on activities are wonderful to have students participate in.

Parallel teaching is an effective strategy for differentiated instruction. I like this style of teaching because the Science content, learning goals, are all taught in smaller cooperative groups that fit the needs of the students in each group.

Supplemental teaching teaches the same standard but different content is taught. This is an effective way to teach in a differentiated way as well.

Alternative/differentiated instruction happens when different learning goals are taught using alternative methods.

I want my students engaged. To do this, I would first give them a few different options to choose from they can participate in. the fact that they got to choose the activity is motivating in itself. Next, I like to incorporate as much hands-on/realia as possible. I also like the studnets to be up and moving! The more their whole body is participating, the more the content will stick. I also like them to be creative. I want them to have the chance to make learning fun in their own style. I think having an activity where they can demonstrate what they have learned by making something (a picture, etc.) is way more fun than taking a boring assessment.
