Educational inequalities started a long time ago from many issues. One is based on inequalities for men and women. When in school in the mid 19th century they had separate doors, classes, and even recess areas. They did this because they believed women should learn about household responsibility, while men should earn the money for their family. This type of schooling also led to the feminization of the elementary school workforce. Also, in the 19th and 20th century a major thing was sending indegenous people to residential schools to separate them from their own people, which ended up damaging them psychologically. Lastly, racism makes up a huge part of the education inequality. In the mid 19th to mid 20th century they had segregated schools where the education would not be as good. Sometimes even universities would reject people just based on race.
https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/racial-segregation-of-black-people-in-canada

https://www.thecanadianencyclopedia.ca/en/article/history-of-education

Educational inequalities impact kids all over the world. The main group of kids that this issue affects is low-income families and their kids as well as black children. Families without a stable income will often not be able to afford school or additional resources relating to school, such as a tutor. These families might live in a neighbourhood that doesn’t have a great school or a way to get to school every day. A large group affected by this issue is black kids. Black kids are not treated the same as white kids at school. Black kids at some schools are given more detentions and suspensions than white kids. Kids who are suspended are more likely to drop out of school and then become involved in criminal activities. https://opencanada.org/inequality-explained-hidden-gaps-canadas-education-system/
