In our group, we talked about the importance of collaborative learning strategies and the impacts that it has on student participation and learning outcomes. Specifically, we spoke about ways to help add structure to these group activities. Assigning each student a different color to write in on a group poster or graphic organizer instead of specific roles allows the teacher to monitor which students are doing what work. This structure holds every student accountable and ensures that they all gain an understanding of the content.

I will be implementing the use of Nearpod in my class. This is an online tool that is free to teachers. It is a way to create interactive slides where you can embed videos, create polls, and allow students to respond to a guiding question. You can create a slide set from scratch or use a template.

I am very interested in the Leitner method to help improve history vocabulary for all learners.

Pre-teach vocabulary prior to and during instruction. We gave, at times, a unique vocabulary.
