Now that our kiddos are cohorted this is obviously more difficult, but we still work closely together. This was obviously voluntary for families and they only signed up if they were willing to have her over and she communicated well in advance when she would come, but she said that the kiddos and families absolutely loved it and it was so special to get to know her students and families on a more personal level. I'm not sure how this would work in the COVID teaching era- but this is something that I hope to do someday. We always pick a variety of titles to talk through, and choose one that interests the majority of us. We have read books that deal with many topics that are current "hot button" items. I take notes on almost every session and have so many ideas to take back to my school. Some of my favorite sessions deal with integrating community building activities like class chants/songs, how to be the yellow (be the bright spot in someone's day), and creating a welcoming environment for all. Many presenters also have blogs and websites that I have added to my list of references, so I can continue to learn from them after this current conference. This TYHO conference is so worth the money and time spent, if anyone wants to look into it, here is the link!
