         <description><![CDATA[<p>All three lessons will have informal assessments giving students the opportunity to practice what they have learned shortly after my instruction. This will take the form of guided and independent practice. Students will complete math problems on the board and explain the process for how they go their answers. This will allow them to demonstrate what they have learned and I will be able to give them feedback in this part of the lesson. </p><p><br/></p><p>Additionally, each lesson will have activities for the students to engage in. Lesson 1's group activity will have a debriefing period for the students to share with the class what steps they had placed in order for the division process. Lesson 2's "mystery picture" math game gives feedback to the students on what division problems they had gotten incorrect. Lesson 3's decimal placement exercise will be split into two parts with a review period for students to correct their work as they watch me demonstrate how I set up each decimal division problem. Prior to starting these assessments, I will be teaching them how each division process is to be completed, step-by-step. For all of these activities, I will also be walking around the room to offer help and feedback to all of the students. </p><p><br/></p><p>A formal assessment will be administered after all three lessons have been taught. This will be a cumulative test that will test the what the student's have learned in this math unit with dividing two digit divisors and decimals. This test will cont towards the students' grade for the trimester.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>The first lesson will serve as an introduction to dividing with divisors that have two digits. This lesson will demonstrate to students how they are to complete long division with divisors that are multiples of ten (10, 20, 30...).  Students will familiarize themselves with division problems that have larger divisors and learn that they must divide the first two digits of the dividend by the divisor in the beginning of each problem. Since multiples of ten have zeroes in their ones place value, students can use mental math to estimate numbers in the quotients when completing the math problems. </p><p><br></p><p>The next lesson will require students to divide with divisors outside of multiples of ten. These divisors will have values other than zero in their ones place value. Since students know that they must consider dividing two digits first of the dividends by the two digit divisors, they will learn to use multiples of the divisors now to estimate the digits in their quotient. This can also be done through estimation or multiplication.</p><p><br></p><p>The last lesson will incorporate decimals into the long division problems. This lesson will teach students that they must move the decimal point of the divisor first to the right first so that it will become a whole number. Then, the students must move the decimal point of the dividend to the right the same amount of times as the divisor before undergoing dividing. Students can then use their prior knowledge from the last two lessons to finish the division problems now that the divisor is a two-digit whole number.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Lesson 1 will have a group activity requiring students to sort out the steps of long division with two digit divisors in the form of sequencing cards. This will serve as a review for the students to familiarize themselves with steps they must undergo to divide.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 2 will have an activity incorporating the use of technology for students with a Mystery Picture game on Google Spreadsheets. This game will require students to complete the division problems to reveal a picture once they find all of the quotients.</p><p><br/></p><p>Lesson 3 will utilize a computer sorting game where the students must learn to move the decimal point of the divisors and dividends in their division problems. This practice will help them understand how to convert decimal divisors and dividends into whole numbers before dividing and where to place their decimal in their quotient.</p>]]></description>

This will guide the students for how they are to consider two digit divisors and decimals when dividing. Direct instruction will be used first to demonstrate to the students how they can solve each problem. The, indirect instruction will be used to allow the students to solve problems on their own during independent practice. Experiential instruction will appear in the form of math games that students will participate in to practice their skills. These math games will be played on their Chromebooks with challenging problems for them to solve and options for them to interact with numbers  by clicking and dragging answers.</p>]]></description>
