Although slavery ended in the north, northerners still accepted it.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1830, William Lloyd Garrison started an abolitionist newspaper, called The Liberator. He also formed the American Anti-Slavery Society in 1833. Angelina and Sarah Grimke gave lectures all over the world on the truth of slavery. Then their was Fredrick Douglass, an escaped slave, who started his own antislavery newspaper named, The North Star.  Also, Sojouner Truth. He was inspired by Douglass to speak about slavery. Last but not least, Harriet Tubman. He was a conductor on the Underground Railroad; a secret network that helped runaway slaves reach freedom in the north secretly</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1848, a group of abolitionist activists gathered in Seneca Falls, New York to discuss the problem of women’s rights. They were invited there by the reformers Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott. In the Seneca Falls Convention, they agreed American women were individuals who deserved their own identities.<br><br></div><div>“We hold these truths to be self-evident,” said the Declaration of Sentiments that the delegates produced, “that all men <em>and women</em> are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain inalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” They believed women should have the right to vote, and equality for women in all cases.<br><br></div><div><br></div>]]></description>
