I believe Hamlet is a coward, talks the talk but does not walk the walk. If he had wanted revenge, he would have killed Claudius already- just as the ghost had asked him to. I think he is very upset about the murder of his father, but he is not willing to do something like murder. Hamlet has had moments where he is contemplating suicide and plotting his revenge, but always last minute backs out of it and comes up with some silly excuse. He is afraid and incapable of physically killing someone. I mean, there have been several times where I myself talk the talk, but don’t actually do anything. We've seen that Hamlet previously stated he needed proof to kill Claudius, delaying his murderous act to a future date. Now that the optimal time has come, he still fears having blood on his hands. In my own experience, I recall delaying my first time riding Intimidator 305 by finding excuses that could help me buy myself time to steel myself, such as the ride's intense g-forces.
