The city could consider strengthening the organization of practical and experiential activities, with particular attention to the preschool age group — the foundational stage of development. This is a golden period for nurturing thinking skills and inspiring a passion for learning. Creating more opportunities for children to directly explore fields such as science, art, and nature not only supports their holistic physical and mental development but also builds a strong foundation for future knowledge acquisition. These activities will encourage innate curiosity, foster creativity, and help children develop observation and problem-solving skills from an early age, thereby unlocking the full potential of future generations.

All planning, investment, and public services should aim to create a living environment that is safe, clean, green, and friendly.

Such a city should have a strong and effective primary health care system, a clean environment with good waste, food, and water management, and infrastructure that encourages physical activity - building a connected, caring, and safe community.

In Tokokoe, one of the most pressing issues affecting the health and well-being of our community is the lack of access to safe and clean drinking water. Many residents rely on unsafe water sources, which has led to the spread of waterborne diseases such as typhoid and diarrhea.

The provision of reliable, potable water is essential not only for good health but also for improving hygiene, sanitation, and overall quality of life. Access to clean water would help reduce illness, support children’s regular school attendance, and promote better community development.

Addressing this challenge requires collective action from government agencies, NGOs, and local communities. This will ensure sustainable water systems and education on water hygiene practices. Clean water is not just a basic need; it’s a foundation for a healthy and thriving Tokokoe. 💧

In my opinion, a healthy city is one where both residents and visitors can enjoy good physical and mental well-being.

Physical health:

Citizens have access to fresh, clean, and nutritious food. There are many public spaces, parks, and sports areas where people can walk, jog, cycle, practice yoga, or participate in other physical activities. Awareness programs are organized regularly to promote healthy lifestyles among citizens and communities.

Healthcare services are comprehensive, accessible, and ensure regular health check-ups and medical care when needed.

The city maintains a clean living environment, free from pollution caused by wastewater, emissions, solid waste, and other contaminants.

The transportation system is well-connected and synchronized; citizens comply strictly with traffic laws, minimizing the risk of accidents.

The city develops as an ecological and resilient urban area, capable of adapting to climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics.

Livelihoods, employment, and vocational training:

A healthy city ensures improved and sustainable livelihoods for its residents, reducing dependence on natural resource exploitation.

Vocational training and job creation programs are strengthened to provide stable employment opportunities for local people.

Education and training:

All citizens have access to education and training opportunities. Children can attend school, and diverse learning formats are offered to meet community needs.

Mental health:

The city provides peaceful and green spaces where residents can relax, meditate, or enjoy music.

Community activities, clubs, and volunteer programs are encouraged to foster social connections, reduce loneliness, and promote positive relationships.

Cultural, artistic, and recreational activities are supported to bring joy, relaxation, and personal growth to citizens.

Infrastructure:

Urban infrastructure is developed in a synchronized and integrated manner, meeting the needs of both residents and visitors.

It is also designed to withstand harsh natural conditions and adapt to climate change impacts such as floods, droughts, and saltwater intrusion.

Family relationships:

Families live in harmony and happiness. Generations maintain and pass down the good traditions of their ancestors.

Social equity:

All citizens are treated fairly, with special attention given to vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities, low-income earners, the elderly, and those with limited access to opportunities. The city promotes stable employment and livelihoods for all.

Security and safety:

Public order and safety are maintained. There are no incidents of violence, disputes, or social evils caused by law violations.

Landscape and environment:

The urban landscape is green, clean, and beautiful, with wastewater properly collected and treated.

Tourism:

The city attracts tourists and connects local traditional products with visitors, contributing to the local economy and cultural identity.

A truly healthy city is one where citizens naturally demonstrate civilized behavior, comply with laws as part of their daily routine—without the need for enforcement or penalties.

In summary, a healthy city achieves harmony between physical and mental well-being, where citizens live and work in happiness, safety, and have access to healthcare and improved living conditions. Especially, when themes of health, environment, and social well-being are embedded in the city’s identity—such as “Environmental City” or “Cu Lao Cham – No Plastic Bags”—they create a strong and lasting impression on visitors and build a sense of pride among residents.

In my opinion, the most important foundation of a healthy city lies in its clean environment and green spaces that harmonize with people’s lives.
A city can only truly be “healthy” when every citizen can breathe clean air, has places to exercise, relax, and connect with others.

In addition, safety, equality, and community cohesion play an equally vital role. When people feel secure and respected, they live happier and more positively — and that is the essence of lasting mental well-being.

For example, tree-lined streets, open parks, free playgrounds for children, and community health programs all help nurture a livable and healthy city.

The city can create more spaces for young people to learn, explore, and grow. Specifically:

Develop community hubs that offer sports, music, art, and entrepreneurship activities.

Strengthen school-based mental health programs to help youth cope with academic and life pressures.

Promote green transportation—walking, cycling, and eco-friendly public transit—so that young people can stay healthy while contributing to environmental protection.

When young people are given opportunities and a positive environment, they become a source of creativity and energy that drives the city’s sustainable growth.
