Last Monday I came into college and I enrolled. I used my communication skills to discuss with my course leader my gcse results and why I want to do the course, travel and tourism. I think I communicated well when talking to new people. However, I could’ve been more confident.

Last Saturday I went for a job interview at Burntwood hotel . I was nervous at start but when I spoke to the boss and the person who was interviewing me I got confident. I used my good communication skills and my confidence to sell myself so I could get the job. I think it went really well as I got the job.

For the last two weeks I did enrichment at college. This allowed me to meet new people from all over Barnsley. I used communication skills to learn new things about new people. We did activities in team building , such as we had to build a chair out of balloons. We also did sport activities so we could work as a team with new people. I think I was good at communicating. However, I could’ve been more confident.

On the induction week, we had to work in a team of people we didn't know. We had to build a chair out of balloons and Sellotape. We had to work together to bring ideas on how to build the chair. We all helped draw ideas onto a sheet of paper and then we blew up the balloons. it helped my teamwork skills as I worked with different people and we all put our ideas together. I think I listened to peoples ideas really well.

My job is a waitress and I have to serve food to customers and make sure that they are happy with their meal. in this job I have to use team work skills. I communicate to the chefs about what the kind of meals are and what tables they go to. Sometimes when there is a lot of food to go out I cant carry all the food myself. So, other waitresses help and therefore I use teamwork skills. This is good because that means that all the customers get their food on time.

In Saffrons lesson 2 weeks ago, we all had to make a blanket out of little pieces of card. We had to write our name on on side and then on the other side we put a fun fact about our selves, then we decorated it. Then I used teamwork skills to work with everyone to make this blanket come together. I think the this went well as we all made the blanket stay together. however, I think I should've used teamwork more and contributed more to the team

I come to college everyday on time because I want to work in the travel industry when I am older. I want to work for Virgin Atlantic. To become this I need to attend my travel and tourism lessons, and I try to be on time all the time.

I try and be on time to college everyday that I'm in. This is me being motivated to be on time to college every time I'm in. This is so I can learn new things that will help me in my future career as cabin crew. I think I could be more motivated to come in on time and get an earlier bus as sometimes the bus runs late.

I have had my job for 6 months now. I'm motivated to go to work as it gets me lots of work experience. it will also look good on my CV as it shows I have got work experience. it also motivates me as it means that I will get paid which can go towards things like getting a car, shopping and my future. I think I can be more motivated as sometimes I don't want to go to work as I feel like it will take ages however it never does.

I currently work in a restaurant called Burntwood court. this has allowed me to pick up new skills which will be perfect for the rest of my life. these skills include customer service skills, resilience, patience and teamwork. all these will be able to help meet in the future as want to become cabin crew. I think having work experience at this age is good as it helps you out for life in the future, it will also show future employers that you have experience.

A couple of weeks ago, my class did a charity bake sale. we had other things like raffles, guess how many Mini Eggs are in the jar and we were selling cookies, buns and cakes. this is work experience as we had to be professional so people would take us seriously and buy things for charity. this was a good experience as I learnt valuable skills for life. I think this went well as we raised around £180 for Barnsley hospice.

A year ago I helped my dad out by volunteering at my brothers football game. my task was to run the tuck shop stall. we sold chocolate bars, crisps, soft drinks and hot drinks. I had to stay professional during this time and used customer service skills for the customers. I had to use quick maths to sort people change out. this volunteering did teach me lessons about working life. However, it was quite stressful as I was all on my own and sometimes there would be a really long que.

my mum works 5 days a week and sometimes in the school holidays she struggles with child care. so, I always help her with this and I look after my little sister and brother. I support my mum by helping her if she is ever struggling. I also support my sister if she is ever sad or cant do something. these skills will be good in the future if i want to be cabin crew, becuase i will need to look after passengers and make sure they are okay.
