  • India scores 40/100 for the corruption perception index in 2020
  • India’s overall score of 40 has increased by 4 since 2012
What the data tells you about wellbeing 

  • India’s high level of corruption therefore results in poor quality of life for the people that live there
  • Corruption erodes the independence of the judiciary therefore directly harms people’s right to a fair  trial
Internal factors

  • India has a population of 1.366 billion people in 2019 which is therefore harder for the government to monitor the corruption levels   
  • Anti corruption and anti bribery laws are less strict in India meaning people take the risk

  • India having wars with pakistan and tensions with china limits imports
