Autism: Developmental disability that can cause significant social, communication, and behavioral challenges.

Children with ASD often times are self absorbed and have their own private world. Causing limited ability to successfully communicate and interact with peers. Communicating with and understanding others. 

How can we help:
Highly structured, specialized programs. Using eye contact, gestures, body movements, imitation, and babbling. Single word and phrases.

However some children with ASD may never develop oral speech and language skills. Types of Behaviors:
Restricted/ Repetitive Behavior: Repeating certain behaviors, Overly focused interests, example of moving objects/ parts of objects, Lasting, intense interest in certain topics, example of numbers, details, and facts.
Social Communication/ Interaction Behaviors:
Getting upset by slight change in routine, Making little eye contact, Rarely sharing enjoyment of objects/activities, Responding in an unusual way when others show anger, distress or affection and failing/falling behind.
Evaluations are available almost all the time in many areas.
