After going through all the campaigning, you must provide information about where you live, and your name before given 2 forms. A small one which is for the lower house, and a large one for the upper house.
When your in the voting booth, you must number the candidates in the order you'd like to see them elected, this is the lower house voting. The upper house voting is where you select who you want to represent your state or territory. When voting above the line, you must name at least 6 parties you want to see, and to vote below the line, you must order the exact order of candidates you want to see in the senate. If you want a whole party, you would vote above the line, but if you want one person from that party you would vote below the line. You can vote by post if you can't make it to a voting place for accessibility reasons. If you go to the voting booth on election day, you will be given an instruction guide on how to vote, you can choose to use this however you like, it is your vote. They have the power to make laws for the whole country. These issues are rea in the constitution, these may include marriage, immigration, communications, taxation, and foreign affairs. These are the thins that affect all Australians State- This contains the six states and two territory parliaments. They meet in the capital of each state. These parliaments make the laws that are enforced within their own state. These laws relate to the areas not covered by Australians constitution. These relate to things like schools, hospitals, roads, railways, electricity, water, mining, and agriculture. They both have the power to make laws, (federal and state). The federal parliament can override the state aliments decisions. Local- This is made up of more than 560 councils across the country. These councils are in charge of local issues that occur within their community such as parks, roads, garbage collection, library services, street signage, and pet control. These things can be considered as local services and matters. These three levels of law-making work together to govern Australia.
