This is a video. It talks about the 13 original American Colonies. It names all of the original colonies and how English settlers came to America and settled in the colonies. It divided the colonies into the northern, middle, and southern colonies. It talks about what each division was good at. At the end of the video, it reviews what it talks about. This could be used in the classroom when you are starting to learn about the beginning of U.S History. This correlates to ALCOS with explaining the early colonization of North America including geographic features and differences in climate among the colonies. I chose this video because it is very educational and establishes the beginning of colonies in a way that elementary children can understand. [SS2010] USS5 (5) 5

This is an image of the U.S. branches of government. This picture demonstrates the 3 different branches of government and who is apart of each branch. It shows that in the Legislative branch there is congress which splits into the House of Representatives and the Senate. In the Executive branch it shows that it has the President and the Vice President. The Judicial branch has the Supreme Court. This could be used in the classroom when teaching your students about the different branches of government and who is in each part of it. This correlates to ALCOS with informing students about the organization of our nation's government. I chose this image because it demonstrates our government in an easy way that shows who is in each branch so that the children can visualize it easily. [SS2010] USS5 (5) 9

This is a website. It talks about how the original 13 colonies wanted their independence from Great Britain, and they did not like paying taxes but not having any representation in Parliament. It was written by Benjamin Franklin, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Robert Livingston, and Roger Sherman, and it was written on July 4, 1776. It talks people's rights and the government can do and not do. When Great Britain heard about this they were angry and they declared war on the U.S. This can be used in the classroom to teach your students about how our country gained our independence and how our country has become how we are today. This correlates to ALCOS by discussing the principles that are in it. I chose this website because it gives accurate information and it can be understood by kids easily. [SS2010] USS5 (5) 8

This is a website. It talks about the original 13 colonies, the problem of representation, the colonies wanted their independence from Great Britain. The U.S. decided that for their new government they do not want a king they would be a democratic government with leaders elected by the people and balances of power to make sure that no one could become king. This website can be used in the classroom to learn the cause and effects of the war and the beginning of America's independence from Great Britain. This correlates to ALCOS with to identify the cause and effect that lead to the war. I chose this website because it is an informational website that divided up the information from background to each stage of the war then the end. It Kays out the information easily for kids to comprehend. [SS2010] USS5 (5) 7

This is a website. It talks about how the war was divided into 2 sides. The sides were Axis Power (Germany, Italy, and Japan) and the Allied Powers (U.S., Britain, France, Russia, and China) It talks about how Adolf Hitler ruled Germany before World War II started. It talks about how Germany invaded France, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Denmark, Norway, Greece, and Yugoslavia. Millions of German citizens were put in prison for being jewish or did not fit the "perfect image." Germany fought for power in Europe and Japan fought for power in the Pacific Ocean. The U.S. did not join the war until 1941 when Japan bombed Pearl Harbor. On May 8, 1945, Germany surrendered. This website can be used in the classroom to learn the cause and effects of wars and why the United States entered the war. This correlates to ALCOS with to identify the causes and effects of the war and to put them on a timeline. I chose this website because it gave 10 major facts about the war that gives an overview of what happened during the war but made it interesting for kids. [SS2010] USS6 (6) 6

This is a website. It says that division is breaking a number up into equal parts. It discusses that there are different signs for division such as / or ÷. It says that there is a dividend, divisor, and quotient. The dividend is the number you are dividing. The divisor is the number you are dividing by. The quotient is the answer. This website can be used in the classroom to better understand the concept of division. This correlates to ALCOS with using whole numbers to find the quotients. I chose this website because it explains what division is and the definition of each part of the equation that makes it easy for children to understand. [MA2015] (4) 11
