There were two things that stuck out to me in chapter 9 on page 275. Both of these came from figure 9.2. I found the comparisons of both cross-sectional and longitudinal research to be very interesting. What I found to be the most interesting about cross-sectional was the fact multiple people from different ages were taken at one time. This can be positive because results can be diverse and come from multiple groups of people. However, this can be negative too because as time progresses the world changes. Once you become older, the farther back you find yourself compared to newer generations. Longitudinal research seemed like a better choice in my opinion due to the fact of having the same people for the same reason at different points of their lives. Doing this will actually keep a study simple and won't create as much work for the people that are conducting the study.

After taking the self-motivation quiz, I received a score of 48. The theory that I thought was able to relate to me the most was the incentive theory on page 357, in chapter 11, section 11.1. Knowing that there will be a reward for something that I do normally pushes me to do better. For example, I am into cars and I always work in order to purchase my dream car one day. At a younger age I saved all the money I had and rewarded myself with my current car. Doing that has helped me push myself to the furthest extent possible and put the distractions to the side because I want to see myself in my dream car one day.

After taking the self-confidence quiz, I received a score of 51. The topic that I felt related to me the most was the esteem needs on page 412, in chapter 12, section 12.4. Making correct choices and being recognized by others for them helps me become more confident with future decisions. I am not the type of person that likes to take other peoples opinions when they are negative. However, if they react positively to the choices and decisions I make then that is a different story. Gaining approval for something that is beneficial to myself and that will not impact me negatively is like a pillow for me to fall on if things go wrong. It makes me feel like I am not alone and I have support from other individuals that want to see me succeed.

After taking the locus of control quiz, I received a score of 65/108. The internal locus of control on page 415, in chapter 12, section 12.5 caught my attention the most. In my daily life I tend to put my problems to the side and make sure that I am in control of what the problem is. Having lost friendships in the past due to childish behavior has made me become a bigger person today. Effort goes both ways when it comes to relationships between people. If you make others a priority before yourself they must do the same in return or things will go wrong. There will be days where challenges will come face to face with you and the amount of effort you put in as a group to resolve the challenge will determine what the result will turn out to be.

The best piece of information that I was able to find in chapter 13 was on page 423, section 13.1 which talked about witchcraft and exorcisms. The reason these two things caught my attention is because they were under the explanation for psychological disorders. Typically if you speak to someone today regarding psychological disorders they could list many causes that may lead up to that. But hearing them say witchcraft and exorcisms would be strange because that is unheard of. Thankfully, that was in the past and has long been done with no future sign of possibly returning ever again. I would see that as being a cruel way to treat a human and there should be punishment for that. After going through such traumatizing experiences like that I don't know how a person would be able to recover from that.

As the semester has passed by I have learned many new things. One thing that stands out to me the most that we have learned so far is the stress related factor of homeostasis on page 80, in chapter 3, section 3.1. The reason this stands out to me the most is because homeostasis is a rare stage to reach in life. An individual must really clear everything from themselves and go into a deep state of relaxation to reach this. If I was to take a guess I would say that only a small percentage of people actually have the time and dedication to do this. Another thing that has also stood out to me is the topic of episodic memory on page 210, in chapter 7, section 7.1. When it comes to me I consider my memory to be top notch when it is long term compared to short term. Mainly my childhood events are remembered more often than my recent events. I am able to list the events of what I did when I went to Lebanon thirteen years ago from beginning to end. Many people find this strange because I can't even remember the food I ate yesterday.

Something that I liked about the course was that the homework wasn't killer. Multiple attempts were allowed per question and the due dates were not close to one another every week. Something that I did not like about the course was that I felt the exams were too quick with time. There was a few times this semester where I had to quickly submit a question I was unsure of in order to maintain good time. I would change the extra credit policy to let give the course a little more grace. I completed the zoom extra credit and I will also do the extra credit quiz due 12/11 but besides that there isn't anything left for me to do for bonus points. I enjoyed your teaching style with the videos for the chapters. Without them I would not have as much knowledge as I do now about the topics we learned.
