In the first scene, there is a man working in a very monotonous way, as in "a job that slowly kills you". Something that was supposed to bring fulfilment ("A heart that's full up like a landfill"), leaves him empty. The light in the room is very dim, and there is only one window. The man is watching tv, leaning forward and maintaining a very apathetic expression, looking "tired and unhappy". The TV is the representation of the media and the medium used by the government to control our lives and tell us what to do, even if we don't want to.

In this scene, the man is in the bed, sleeping. A metaphor for the "quiet life" and a handshake of carbon monoxide (death). The scene is very calming ("no alarms and no surprises") yet disturbing.

The man is eating. Here, I used a little play on words, connecting the "bellyache" to his meal. The "bellyache" is supposed to represent a final act of perseverance and faith. But, in reality, there is no "bellyache" for the man remains still and doesn't do anything besides eating "No alarms and no surprises".

I thought this scene could be a break from all the animated scenes. Instead, it will be a moment of reflection for the viewer. It will give them the opportunity to put themselves in perspective and wonder about the statements made throughout the song, only this time it's them, not the man.
There will be a cluster of clocks followed by a collection of mirrors that will show the finite amount of time in this world. Also, a literal reflection of the viewer, provided by the mirrors. ( I won't actually use the viewer's reflection. In this scene, the man is standing in front of his house's front door, not moving, looking down. It rains.
"A pretty house", "a pretty garden" should be symbols of prosperity and happiness, at least according to society. But here, we get to see how shallow those things really are and how they don't bring joy to the man now standing alone in the rain.

The viewer sees a door in the distance. it could symbolise our own death or we put ourselves in the man's perspective while his life ends. But it can also be seen as an opportunity to go to the real world and change our reality so that we become less like the man in the video "get me out of here".
