1. Day 45 - Wider systems change - flipped individual learning

Hi everyone

Welcome to the morning padlet for this flipped individual learning session.

This half day (morning) padlet should increase your awareness of Systems theory and introduce you to some basic concepts. Although this fits within module 6 (consultation-focused) it also strongly ties in with the teaching you will have received on whole school approaches and auditing from module 4. Recent feedback in the SSLC also suggested you would like to try this method of preparatory reading with a skills-based day to follow, so hopefully it will be productive and further information will be provided during your teaching day of wider systems change.

As you review this literature it may helpful to make some notes or use creative ways of processing this information to support your continuing learning. Please add any comments, notes, photos or art work you have undertaken to the padlet.

You may wish to consider the following questions:

1) To what extent would the 'undercover teams' approach work within a whole school approach?

2) What links can you draw between 'undercover teams' and the interventions (both individual and across the school) that you are carrying out as EMHPs?

3) What do you believe are the advantages of the 'undercover teams' approach (both those identified by Williams and from your own experiences)?

4) And what are the challenges associated with this approach?

Let's think about systems!
The definition on the slide below is helpful to allow us to start considering what is meant by systemic thinking. Systems are made up from the sum of their components. The systemic approach is aware of the interconnectedness and relationship of components within systems and how these relationships impact the systems. Systems are made up of sub-systems.
