We usually have in mind what conduct grade each student should get, with or without the point system. For students who deserve an Excellent conduct grade, we intentionally add points so that the points qualify them for that grade. Similarly, this is what happens with students who deserve a Good conduct grade.
Therefore, the point system is quite redundant.

At the same time, reasons on why these students deserve that grade should be stated. This list should similarly be corroborated by all subject teachers.
No need to have complicated system. Just follow our gut feeling (and award the conduct grade) which many schools are using and also it was more effective than the merit and demerit points. Form teachers/Subject teachers know the students the best. Usually most of the students' behaviour are consistent across.

The points system is specifically put in place to prevent arbitrary awarding of grades. Many schools are already doing this process. This idea of ‘we already have a grade in mind’ is too subjective and not fair to the child.

However, the points system can be improved. The ranges can be tweaked such as that, without any leadership roles, it is still possible for a child to get Excellent, provided they get full points for all the given parameters. Conversely, even if a child does not get full points for all the parameters, if they are involved in leadership roles, the points will come in to enable them to get the Excellent grade.

In addition, to stagger the points for Leadership roles with respect to the quality of their contributions.
