"Its all a matter of ideas, and God is just one idea I don't accept." (51) Beneatha doesn't accept God as an idea because she doesn't think that one person created everything.

I think that in the start of the book Beneatha was rude to everyone, but as we progressed into the book more she got nicer. Which I now do sympathize with her because she just wants to live her life how she wants to and doesn't want no one controlling it. I do think she is a good person when she wants to be because she's only nice to everyone else, but her brother.

The reason I chose this was because Beneatha thinks women can do just as much as men. Which she doesn't say it, but her attitude says other wise. She makes it clear that she can run her own life and doesn't need anyone to say she can't. Near this time period women where soon demanding the same rights as men which.

Know matter how hard Beneatha wants to become a doctor she won't stop until she's a doctor. Especially how her brother told her that what she was doing is pointless. Now Beneatha is going to marry Asagai and move to Africa with him and will be a doctor there. Which won't be easy considering nothing in life will come easy to anyone. Beneatha also try's her hardest to embrace her African side, but her brother and Ruth thinks she's weird.

A theme from Raisin in the Sun would be gender/feminism since Beneatha and Ruth are found with it the most. Its obvious because George and Walter make fun of the fact that Beneatha wants to be a doctor. With Ruth she just cleans the house which all women did. In the articles it states, “…But first I’m going to be a doctor, and George, for one, still thinks that’s pretty funny. I couldn’t be bothered with that. I’m going to be a doctor and everybody around here better understand that!” p. 50
