My birthday is October 25th and I was actually induced early, so I was meant to be born really close to or on Halloween. Not only that, but mine and my dad's favorite holiday is Halloween, so we always spent a lot of time decorating. I always had Halloween themed birthday parties and went to Frightmares every year. I just love fall and the Halloween spirit. I've grown up with those yearly rituals to celebrate every year. Here's an actual photo of me on Halloween that my family used as a Christmas card.

German/Mexican

I myself am very white, but my mom's dad is Mexican and her adoptive mom is German so we always celebrated with these cultures, especially with food during the holidays. I also grew up being a part of my friends' family who is Mexican and they would include me in their culture. They would call me their "mija blanca" meaning "my white daughter." I never really considered this to be my culture, but through this assignment I have realized I grew up with is so it very much is.

Cheerleading

I grew up jumping between sports until I finally settled on All-star Cheerleading when I was in 5th grade. I cheered for 7 years. I would go from school to cheer and by the time I got home it was time for bed. I dedicated my life to this sport for so many years and in the end it definitely paid off. I won many state championships, West coast champions, and my last year we placed 5th in the world for our level. It's easy to say this sport made me a little competitive (in a good way:) Even though I'm 19 now, I will always still feel like I'm part of the Cheer community. This is a photo of me back spotting a stunt during my last year of cheer.

Mental Illness

I felt that I had to include this one because in all honesty my battle with mental illness has shaped who I am. I have both depression and anxiety which is genetic. I feel while it has, and still continues to be, a struggle it has also made me a stronger person. These mental illnesses have also created a lot of personality traits for me. Most of all, I have learned to recognize my own toxic traits and work on bettering myself. It has made me always seem mature for my age because I have developed the ability to think critically.

My Creativeness

One positive quality I can easily admit to having is my ability to work creatively. I loved drawing from a young age. Unfortunately, I dropped this skill because I had some bad experiences with art teachers. But I hope to pick it up again now that I'm older. I took a lot of writing classes throughout High School as well and found it to be a good way to express myself. I mostly express my creativity through photography (I took the picture under this post and the background), making DIY gifts and furniture.
