During the 40 minutes of the heritage club, I learn so much about our culture, what we learn is taught to pass down to the next generation which is crucial in preserving India's heritage. I like the activities that are curated for children and the importance of each activity is explained with the help of a video and a short note. The cheerful and joyful mode of the teachers, makes us want to know more. The higher-standard students take part in helping the students to do the activity correctly and properly. I am happy to learn about my culture and my heritage. I wanted to learn more about it but I didn't know where to start or how to start. When the school announced that it would conduct clubs, it was perfect. The videos which were shown by my fellow students and the activities conducted were very interesting. It is nice to break out of the boring routine and do something different. I also liked that the teachers asked us what we could do in the next club meeting. My only disappointment is that it is conducted only twice a month. Ever since my childhood, visits to this ancient temple town and getting a chance to enjoy its festivities kindled my interest in our rich culture and heritage.  When our school made an announcement to join a club, without hesitation I chose the “Heritage Club”. Our first day, was very excited to make my first garland of flowers, though with some help. Next activity was making a Maa-Thoranam (made of Mango leaves) which coincided with Krishna Jayanthi festivities. Please see the picture of my maa-thoranam adorning our house entrance. Really happy to learn more and contribute my best to the club and its activities.

I was curious to know the scientific reasons behind our traditions and  learning more about monuments and historical sites. When I came to know that the school had a Heritage club where we could really learn about our rich traditions and history, it was a great moment for me. I joined the club and learnt some activities like how to tie a Maa Vilai Thoranam and tying flowers in a thread. I really enjoyed watching videos about our monuments. A great Thank You to my teachers for giving me an opportunity to learn the traditions, the science behind them and more about our history. Hoping to do many more activities and learning more about our rich heritage and history!
