No, I do not think that genes affect who you are. To start, in the reading it says, "The view that humans acquire all or almost all of their behavioral traits from “nurture” was termed tabula rasa, Latin for “blank slate,” by philosopher John Locke. This idea proposes that humans develop only from environmental influences." this means that it doesn't matter where you were born, you are a blank slate to be painted.

Another study(not in the reading) say that if someone was born in a pure white room, they would be bland or not have any personality. Now take this person and instead give them a blue room. This would form them because now there's something different. According to the study now this person likes the color blue because thats all they know.

The second study proves no matter who this person's parents were they were still bland.
