This does also mean data is driving everything and often find ourselves as teachers doubling/tripling things like attendance records to collect this data

Perhaps the focus does need to return to teachers future needs.

Drive to collect increasing amounts of data does require more work for the teachers in classes, meaning increased workloads and increased stresses.

We are trying to create common assessment tasks across all instruments, yet some schools have different grade cut offs to the IMSS grade cut offs. Do IMSS staff need to go down the route of using only IMSS grade cut offs to ensure grade equity across all school we service

concern that IMSS teachers are service providers for their schools, however with the new IMSS directives the tailored service providing for each school is now difficult to achieve.

Feel we are caught between what individual schools are wanting and what IMSS are wanting.

We used to have well being days. We had music, collaboration, fun...we even had our own Spicks and Specks once. Now all is grey. If music making isn't about joy and connection, what are we doing? The world is a hard enough place already without bullying and top-down dictatorial style leadership.

I feel IMSS is at its strongest when each teacher is able to completely tailor their program to the specific needs of their school. I feel like this is being hamstrung by the new changes. It makes the teaching less enjoyable and productive for everyone involved

Staff health and wellbeing strategy 2023-2027

Since this strategy was rolled out last year, the messaging when staff have fed back concerns to Exec at IMSS is that wellbeing is up to individuals to gauge through the IKON 'check-in' resources (which are no longer visible on the homepage), seek support from the Employee Assistance Program or manage this in their own way...

Well actually, this is a very simple, surface-like take, and unfortunately only touches on one aspect of the strategy.

As stated in the DoE Wellbeing Model (p6) Staff wellbeing is also affected by "workplace culture and environments"... "culture and leadership; supportive systems; and safe environments - particularly psychological safety in workplaces" - which unfortunately, some would say we don't have, particularly in our office, given how conversations are generally steered and accepted as the way we interact and operate in meetings, etc.

We must delve deeper in this space, especially considering the huge amount of change our organisation has gone through over the past 2 years, and continues to do so... we need to do better to support our staff. There has been talk of potentially creating a Wellbeing Team... considering the Wellbeing Strategy only came out last year, now is the time for this important work to begin!
