She studied education at the University of Saskatchewan, but later enrolled in the Fine Arts program. She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2005 and continued her studies, participating in workshops. She was awarded a year-long mentorship through CARFAC Saskatchewan in 2012-2013.

Kever studied at San Antonio College, San Antonio, TX (1966-67), the Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, Ohio (1967-68), and the Arizona State University, in Tempe, Arizona. Honor moved to Saskatoon and she got her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the U of S in Saskatoon in 1977. Kever taught photography, painting and calligraphy. Her photographic exhibitions have toured throughout Canada and the US. I chose this artist because she did photography and she took pictures of nature as well. She also lived in Saskatchewan.

Marthe, Saskatchewan. Joe taught sculpting, until he met David Gilhooly from the University of California, and Joe began to work as a ceramic sculptor instead of his kinetic sculpture experiments. Joe stopped teaching in 1974 to live in Pense, Saskatchewan and he now does art full-time. His work is found in many public and corporate Canadian collections. Joe works and lives in Regina currently. I chose this artist because, again, sculpting looks very challenging, but also because of his history. He began as a sculptor, but then changed the type of sculpting he did. That could not have been easy, so I found this interesting. The image below is Joe Fafard sketches horses.

Allen Sapp is a First Nations artist from the Red Pheasant Reserve in Saskatchewan. He spent most of his childhood with his grandparents. Drawing was his passion as a child and he drew about life around him on the reserve. His art shows an aspect of first nation’s in Canadian culture. Many of his paintings showed how his grandmother took care of him. This painting is called “Cooking Chokecherries.” (Native Art in Canada, 2018)

Dan Reid is an artist from Saskatchewan who grew up on a farm which gave him an appreciation for the prairies. Self-taught, many of his paintings are inspired by his life on the prairies. Catherine Blackburn is a bead artist and painter. She is Dene from the English River Frist Nations in Saskatchewan.
