I know the importance of class management. However, for me, the theoretical and practical about class management are always different and it's not easy to deal and settle in the real situation. Children like us, we all are humans, we know and recognize people. Children are smarter than us too! I don't like to be tensed always in the class, I don't scold as I really don't like the anger atmosphere. So I'm difficult to control every students in a class to pay fully attention on my lessons. I have no much "Qi"(气）or I may say I lack of "Qi" since I was young. Even though now I still cannot cure myself. So I can't keep stand by with children to sculpture children. I don't expect all students focus on my lessons because everyone have their own interests and experts, I don't like the quietness of students because the class is not only 1 person. I'm good enough to be patient but I know the teacher who cannot well manage classes then he or she is unacceptable by School and may be parents. Thus, I really struggling and frustrated for more than 13 years, even worst that I'm getting afraid of it. Am I still qualified to be a teacher?! 😅

I am a volunteer and teach co-curricular activities in one of the local school . My students are 12-13 years old whom I know personally and we have great connection when we are in a physical class. However online class is very frustrating. It is very difficult to get this same group of children to engage during class. So I came up with quizzes (Multiple Choice Questions) for them at the end of every class and the feedback I got from the children was good. All of them participated. Frankly speaking, I dont like this kind of assessment because the children need not think far for an answer - they just choose one of the ABCs; even though they got the answers right most of the time. When I ask them to elaborate their answers, I don't even hear a squeak from any of them. They refused to talk further... I had to drag the answers out from their mouth... and one word at a time... They will tell me that their internet is not stable... in their house it's too noisy to talk... some of them use handphone device for this online classroom, not easy to type in a chat box
(Somehow I do feel them - because online session is very weird and challenging)

1) Do you think that giving this kind of quizzes would harm their learning? Answers are there - they just pick one.

2) While doing the quizzes, the children are talking and discussing among their group members - I can hear how happy their voices are and teasing (lightly) with each other that ends with laughter and giggles. I thought that is good form of interaction - especially that they have not meet up physically for a while. Can I consider that this is one of the advantages of doing quizzes? They told me they like my quizzes and keep asking for it during every class.

I do give them homework for revision; not all of them will return to me - not even the smart / active students. Maybe because its just a co-curricular session in school. They would also tell me that they have loads of other school homework that need to be submitted.
