One topic that stood out to me was how to prevent credit/debit card fraud from happening to you. The first one is you should always keep your cards in a safe place, it should be out of reach from anyones possession. The second tip is to never lend your debit/credit card to anyone. This is a perfect way for people to steal your possessions. A local Toronto criminal lawyer Norm Standford discusses penalties thats are classified from "Fraud under $5000" to "Fraud over $5000".

The possible penalty for fraud under $5000 dollars in Canada is being convicted to imprisonment of up to two years. Under certain circumstances an individual might get less sentences or may have to pay back necessary fines. Someone that commits fraud over $5000 will serve a term of imprisonment up to 14 years.

He was attempting to commit fraud, but employees picked it up. Employees at Rona notified the lady that her card was being used to purchase materials over $100 dollars. However, the employees at Rona were scared to call the police, because they didn't want to be involved.

When an individual picks up on credit/debit card fraud they should immediately report it to the local authorities. This will at least help catch the person behind this, and show proof that credit card fraud has occurred.
