Setting : Slavery is still legal, everyone drinks, and medical services are still basic so it was probably back during the Civil War.

Narrator POV : The pov is based off a character named " Huck ".

Tone :
Moralistic, Introspective, Tongue-in-Cheek

Authors Purpose : To create a subversive confrontation of slavery and racism.

Dialect and Symbolism : “Yes. You know that one-laigged n***** dat belongs to old Misto Brandish? Well, he sot up a bank, en say anybody dat put in a dollar would git fo’ dollars mo’ at de en’ er de year.” (41) This quote shows a lot about Jim’s education and how he can't pronounce some words correctly.
The Mississippi River is a huge symbol since that is where the two boys are floating down from.
