In such simple and plain language, this song elegantly captures such a complex human struggle of aging. This song discusses how quickly life passes us by when we don't appreciate the present. It captures my strong value indoing what makes you happiest right now because youth is fleeting. Additionally, this song is the epitome of why music is my favorite art form, because when it features language, it can have the same impact as literature except with an additional auditory trait that people have manipulated in beautiful, astonishing ways.

This book is the most influential single piece of art in my life thus far, and probably ever. This book shaped me into who I am today, teaching me my most valued life philosophy, "in the course of a lifetime what will it matter?" This book inspired me to question and analyze life around me and the way I chose to live my life.
In the plot of this novel, the main character's mother dies. The last time she spoke to her mom before she died they argued over something petty. She starts to look at everything around her and question "in the course of a lifetime, what will it matter?" The fight she got in with her mom did not matter, she regrets getting so angry over something like this. This was the first time I truly saw how people can place a disproportionate amount of value in unimportant things, social media for instance. People become emotionally invested in things like this. I examined everything in my life and asked, what does it matter? This made me change a lot. I became more brave, began to actively seek out adventure. The main character also regrets not being nicer to her mother before her mom died. This made me seriously understand that something like this could happen to me, anyone around me could die at any time, including myself, so its important to express love, surround yourself with good people, and treat those you love right, and its important to be as happy as you can while your'e here.

This TV show demonstrates how who you used to be is different than who you are now. The main character, Lindsay, used to be a stereotypical "nerd", and all of her friends were like her as well. These were the friends and label that she grew up with, but the show shows her transition into a friend group of "burnouts", who she enjoys hanging out with more. Her parents and friends disprove of this change of friends, thinking that they are going to be poor influences. Regardless of what those around her tried to suggest she do, she chose to do what will make her happiest. I see this as a highly important lesson, that ultimately its important to pursue the paths in life that will make you the most happy. There is a line that exists, though, if doing so is rightfully hurting other people its important not to be too selfish. This show also teaches the lesson that people change over time. Lindsay was just evolving as a person as she outgrew her old friends. It's a natural part of life, people will come and go because people are not static. I have already seen this lesson become applicable in my life.

Impressionism

Visual art is not a big part of my life like the other forms of art are. No one piece of art shaped who I am, but there is art that I understand and relate with. My favorite type is impressionism. These paintings sort of seem like they extract the beauty from a scene in the world. The pictured example captures the essence a beautiful sunset. This picture is more moving than a photograph of this scene would be. It is hard to put the reason why into words, because art depicts things literature cannot capture. That is exactly why I chose impressionism because it is so great and my appreciation so vast that it can not be described with words. It leaves me speechless, just like the view that this picture is based on would in person. Beauty is one of the best things that life has to offer and impressionism captures the beauty seen in the world.
