It's all about the evolvement of our world and it's always going to keep changing, there will always be issues and no amount of rules/regulations/policies and how our government works will fix that. This generation's children will face different issues then the next's will.

If we "close the loopholes", civil liberties United States citizens have will be infringed. While yes, there are many circumstances that criminals get away with their crime because of small mistakes by the federal government (or police), they are not being charged by the federal government because they did not give these people their civil liberties. Especially in a time where police brutality is heavily debated, these loopholes would allow increased lax in following procedure.

Miranda v. Arizona is a such a significant court case, given the changes it made to the current police system. I'm not sure how many more loopholes we have that would allow people like Miranda escape prosecution, now that Miranda rights have been incorporated into the arrest routine.

I love Alicia's question about affirmative action. Since we're seniors applying to (and getting accepted to) colleges right now, we're being put into situations similar to that of the UC Regents v. Bakke Supreme Court case. I think affirmative action is a hard issue, since having it and not having it may both lead to discrimination. If we have affirmative action, some minority groups or people could be included, but it may exclude others. Not having affirmative action would lead be vice versa, maybe the other ethnic groups will be left out.
